LIEBKNECHT KARL (1871-1919), figure of German and international labor movement. One of the founders of the Communist Party of Germany (1918). Member of the II International. He personally knew the Armenian Bolsheviks- S.Shaumyan, B.Knunyants, A.Bekzadyan, V.Kasparov, Hakob Hakobyan, A.Gyulikevkhyan. He always spoke out against the Turkish government and the anti-Armenian policies of its patron - Germany, defended the interests of the Armenian people. In 1916, in the German Reichstag he raised the issue of the massacre of the Armenian population of Turkey, demanded retribution from Turkish government and ensuring the safety of the rest of the Armenian population in Turkey.

Liebknecht addressed the Armenian issue in the political letters "Spartacus League» (N12, N13), accusing the German government for its silence during the massacre of Armenians. In June 1916, in a statement submitted to the Berlin imperial court, Liebknecht recalled the statement of the German government in 1913 that the possible entry of the Russians to Armenia would be the cause of war. A number of comments on the aggressive program of imperialist states against Armenia were included in his collection "My process according to documents" (1918).
