The film of the famous German director of Turkish origin Fatih Akin “The Cut” on the Armenian Genocide was premiered at the 71st International Venice Film Festival, which took place from August 29 to September 6. According to Deutsche Welle the film was included in the competition program among 20 films competing for the "Golden Lion". “The Cut” is a joint production of Italy, France, German and Russia. The producers of the film are Ruben Dishdishyan of the Armenian origin, Karl Baumgartner of the German origin, Reinhard Brundig, Fabienne Vonier. The film was shot in Jordan, Canada, Germany, Cuba and Malta. 

According to the film director the film can hardly be accepted in Turkey, where there are scenes of violence like how the Turks kill helpless Armenians. He doubts that Ankara will allow to show the film in Turkey. The film director tried to show what is forbidden to say till now to the Turkish audience and to those who are unaware of this tragedy.
